i dont mean to be philosophical but...

i just got off the phone with a friend and we've come to realise that we have similar styles(and how people always say we are so alike), but our concepts of life are so different. let me just talk about it.

she's the planner. she has planned all things from here to there, and she's planning for more. her mindset, or idea, of how her future would be, i would safely say, has already found a spot somewhere in her head. she knows what she needs to do in time to come, when we get our diploma. for starters, the choosing of our CDS. she's chosen business courses, and researched on how each course could benefit her in future. she even knows what she can do in future with the course that she's taking now. she's got the route ahead of her planned, and it should work, if it goes along accordingly. and she's got a very stable and well thought mindset for an 18 year old.

how can i say it? well, she plans her life. and i would say that that would be a very good start for a good future.

now me. i dont think so much. i'm a dreamer, but not much of a thinker. i have visions of what i want, or wish, to be in years to come, but that's it. i know we graduate in a year and a half. and i know what that leads to. it's either university, or out into the real world. the working society. i am NOT excited about that, f.y.i. and because of that, i feel that we have so little time left before we send our fresh bodies out into the society where we will slog like hell, and WORK, WORK, WORK. we will be entering the "dragon's cave" and it will be a long time before we can get out again. we will be fighting like hell to survive the world of hungry men and women. hungry for power.

you know how they say we work to survive? ironically, i feel that we're being paid for our funerals. we're earning the money so that we can afford our funeral. okay, my thoughts are exaggerated, big time. i digressed. (i have the tendency to do that.) i.am.not.having.a.panic.attack.and.will.not.resort.to.smoking.pot.(think o.c.)

but as i said, we have so little time left to choose to do what we really want before we make THE decision and live with it. which is why i chose something totally un-related to my course for my CDS. something that i'd like to think i'm actually interested in. i know what my future will be like with this diploma and i choose not to think about it. YET. it's not that i dont give a damn and plan to loaf if i get nowhere in future. it's just that life is so short, and i dont want to think too much about it when i'm only 18. yes? no?

i wouldnt say that would be a very good start for a future, but i only get to live once. it's not like i'll die, and have the chance to come back and say, "hey, last time, that didnt work. so i'll go for the other one this time." time passes way too quickly. come on, a friend of mine is already enlisting(so who dares say christmas is still a long way?).

so you see how totally different our mindsets are? we talked about how if our lives were made into a movie, she'd be all dressed up smartly in a business suit, hair made up, a briefcase on her hand. and i'll have paint all over my clothes, wearing slippers and a brush on my hand. but we'd both be smiling, meeting for coffee. (actually we talked about alot "more" and how we should totally sell our idea to spielberg but that's another story. *cough*)

thing is, our thoughts on how our way of lives should be are different, but our ultimate idea in the end is still wanting the same thing. to be able to enjoy our lives.

we were both multi-tasking during this phone coversation. she was talking to me while printing out the notes for school(which starts on monday. great.) and i was talking to her while searching for more guitar tabs. you see what i mean?

which is strange how we've been friends for 5 years.

Project Runway

tonight, i got the chance to experience something i'll never forget.

a real-life, fall/winter-collection fashion show.

in the afternoon, i learnt that my CDS for next semester is 20th Century Fashion. right after that, i got a call to go down to Vivocity from Wisma to work at the fashion show. i dont know how come it became that MUCH of a coincidence, but whatever it was, it was definitely a HUGE opportunity for me to experience what a real life fashion show would be like. and even though i was pissed to go down to Vivo at first(i was supposed to end work at 5, but got told to go down there at 4 for overtime. you all know how i hate travelling and last minute changes), the moment i realised i was involved with the fashion show, i felt a certain sense of excitement.

it took me a while to soak everything in, and then i realised, I'M ACTUALLY AT A FASHION SHOW! not just watching, BUT WORKING at one. it felt like i was in Project Runway. and America's Next Top Model. the models were so tall and lanky, i'm pretty sure all 5 of them wore a size 0. i thought they were too thin, but one thing's for sure: they were GORGEOUS. when i stood next to one of them backstage, i knew i was born a midget.

ok, fine, i knew that all along. it just felt better to be called a "midget" when compared next to a model, rather than an average singaporean. still, i'm not saying "midget"'s a very nice thing to call someone...

i-am-a-midget.

drama in between. this lady fainted halfway during the show and this caucasian knight in shining armour came out and carried her out of the shop. what a lovely man. sigh.

so overall the fashion show was a success. sales were definitely HIGH. i'm shagged as hell, and there's still work tomorrow, but it's my last day anyway so it's okay. my feet are aching, i'm under the weather, i just had dinner at 10, and my back hurts.

but it was a fantabulous experience.

plus i'm $24 richer.

p.s.: it's also the first time i've ever worn mascara and my eyelashes are falling off. yay!

3# When you meet with the right person, will you fall in love with him fast?
i wont know if he's the right person that quickly so i wont.

4# Have you ever had your heart broken?
nope. it's beating faster than usual because of this flu i'm having(SCREW YOU, haze) but it's still solid.

5# Do you believe there are some circumstances where cheating love is acceptable?
you dont cheat on someone if you love that someone.

6# Would you take someone back if he cheats on you?
i dont know and i dont intend to find out.

7# Have you ever talked about marriage with another one before?
sure.

8# Do you want children?
of course.

9# How many?

23# Are you missing someone right now?
my friend in australia. wonder how she's doing.

Reality Check

it's my first time typing a resignation letter and i actually searched online to see the correct way to do it. many more to come? hoho. i hope not.

working at suburban filth has been such an experience, i dont wanna quit. I KNOW, coming from me, BIG SHOCKER. i'm actually quite pleasantly surprised at myself as well. i recall a certain job 2 years ago where i just couldn't wait to leave after 3 days. i'm probably not totally cut out for f&b. or maybe i just have nice colleagues now. heh.

the other one at a bank? well i just cannot sit in an office to answer phone calls 10 hours a day, for the rest of my life(assuming that's what i do). I AM NOT AN OFFICE PERSON. which is kind of sucky since my diploma involves sitting around in an office for the entire day. it's an office-job-diploma. and it's what i have to do if i pursue that job in future. darn it. (i know, i know, we've been through this i-hate-my-course-phase. i'll back off now.)

i told my mom that since my future has already been set(assuming i graduate and continue under my diploma. go figure.) in an office, i wanted try other things during holidays to gain the experiences that i wont be able to in a few years time. i mean, you cant afford to go out to "experience" other jobs first when you graduate do you?

ugh. singaporeans. we're in such a hurry to be in front all the time, we've forgotten to live our lives the way we want to. to make time for ourselves. some people work their whole lives, day and night, every hour of everyday, slog like hell, and make all the money in the world. but when they die, they die with regrets in their hearts, regrets of not fulfilling some of their wildest dreams. it doesnt really make them happy people.

i really like to believe that when you go out to work, you should be doing something that you really enjoy, something that you really think you have passion for, instead of doing it just for the sake of the money. sure, you'll earn good. but are you going to be happy when you have to wake up every morning and drag yourself out of bed to go to somewhere that you desperately hate? it's not school(this time). you have a choice.

you know how parents elsewhere are always telling their children to "pursue their dreams and do what they like" when they grow up? even if it meant being a model, an artist, or even a clown? parents here tell us, "when you grow up, make sure you get a well-paid job. it's best if you can become a doctor, a lawyer, a banker.." it's for our own good, but it's kinda sad at the same time, isnt it?

i'd really really like to believe that it's possible to have a choice, but sometimes, out here in singapore, it's kind of difficult to just FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS, no?

check, please.

Once and Again

i went to the hairdresser's today. when it was finally my turn, the hairdresser sat me down on the chair, and asked me in english, "how...cut?". i told her to thin it down and give it a trim and she pointed to my hair and replied, "cut?". "okay, a little bit," i told her.

after much cutting, she pointed to my fringe and said, "f..fridge?" i couldnt understand her. so she pulled my fringe and shook it, and said, "cut..fri..dge?" i thought, okay, never mind, i'm speaking mandarin. i told her "a little bit(yi dian dian)" in chinese.

she stopped and stared at me for 2 seconds, and burst out laughing.

"ni hui jiang hua yu?!?" (translation: "you speak mandarin?!?")

YOU SEE, apparently, she thought i was a malay. which was why she spoke to me in english even though she didnt know how to speak it well.

saya bukan Melayu!

i'm starting to feel really amused about this.

Hello, Moto

i finally got to meet the operational manager today. the legendary *cough*manager who's name sounds alot like one of the phone brands(hint: "Hello, Moto"). now i know what my colleagues meant when they told me how her hobby's reprimanding people. i totally witnessed my senior head go weak in the knees at the sight of her. i'm so glad i'm just a part-timer. middle-aged women are cranky.

i have to work at the branch at Vivocity on Sunday. DAMN. i've never even been there before and now i'm going there to work.

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

So Sue Me

the senior head's hasnt been around and i've enjoyed working these 2 days. it's probably because weekdays are less busy. EXCEPT fridays. thank god it's my off day this friday. i dont like the feeling of working on a sunday, but i dont have a choice. never mind, it's just this sunday.

i met the other part-timer 2 days ago for the first and the last time because that was her last day. she showed me around the store, told me about the new stocks and how to talk to customers, something the full timers didnt do(strangely). and she did warn me about certain things a few of them did that i have to be really careful of. yikes. i mean, technically, everyone laughed around but just the certain things they did...well, "Welcome to the political world." that was what she told me. thanks, i felt great after hearing that. okay, sarcasm aside, i really appreciated her showing me around. that was nice.

my dad's friend from the U.S.(the one who opened his house to them when they went over) came to singapore and had dinner with us last night. chicken rice. yum. ANYWAY, my dad told him i have been yearning to go to the U.S. since i was 13 and so he asked me when i'm going. i told him about my 2013 pact with anna.

"i see, i see. but you have to really plan your trip. new york isnt a safe place." point taken. he's a californian, by the way.

"i always have trouble remembering your names(even though he's known us for YEARS). hey if you wanna go to america, we gotta get you an english name first. we know we got your brother one already." yes, they managed to call my brother something that sounded similar to his name. amazing.

when i was in new zealand, my dad's friends used to call me "Susan" or "Sue" because my name was kinda tough to remember, somehow. another australian friend called me "Polly".Polly dont want a cracker. um, "Sue"'s fine, really. and i'm actually not cringing at the sound of it. hey, now that's a first.

p.s.:i cant wait to go to Penang during the december holidays. dad's already made reservations. that is the only thing that will keep me going for the next month. i cant wait.

p.p.s.: christmas is less than 3 months away. :)

Suburban Filth

first day of work, again. i know, i know. one moment i have no job and the next, job offers come non-stop. this job is not just a 2-days job though. it's all the way til school reopens. actually, the management wanted me to work even after school reopens. "weekends are a must, confirm must. and at least one weekday."

what are ya, frogheads? i aint working when school reopens because i aint going to rush down to orchard after i finish school at what, 4? it's not like i'm in desperate need of money. i'm just killing time...by making money. anyway, if they insist i do, i'll resign then. it's as simple as it should be.

so where am i working at? let's just call it...my own"Suburban Filth"(think OTH3) so that i can bitch about it here when i need to and not get sued. okay, that's what i shall call it from now on. suburban filth.

today was busy like hell. so much for being my first day. it's totally different from the last job because i spent the entire day sitting down in an office in the last one and i spent an entire day standing in a shop in this current job. colleagues wise, they were nice, generally. one of them was really nice, and she was the only one who actually made me feel really comfortable because the senior head was...well, i think i can tell she's going to be a little, *cough*problem*cough*. everything has to be PERFECT. and i heard the manager(whom i havent seen) is really particular about the perfection of maintenance. and they're both singaporeans so, really, it's not all that surprising.

i stood for a total of 9 hours, serving mostly, tai-tais and tourists. damn, all i can say is that these ladies are LOADED. the cheapest top in the shop costs about $79. yes, i can safely believe they're totally loaded. this lady i served came in and left with a top and bottom, costing about nearly $500 altogether. that's 200 plates of chicken rice.

totally appreciated anna for stopping by with her natural acting ability to keep me entertained for at least 30 mins(i think she enjoyed trying on those clothes anyway). i liked serving her best. AND for the plasters. BIG HELP. thanks babe. :)

serving someone's never that easy so i wouldnt complain about having to serve all those ladies, except...there's this one particular chinoise lady. she took in so many clothes to try, made me stand outside to "pass her" other clothes when she called for them(when she could've just hung them all together inside). HI, you're not my only customer.

she demanded for an XS for one of the corsets when i had to help her zip up a size S. come on lady, it's a damn corset. you need to breathe.and it's not like she left with anything(plus one of my colleagues told me she always tries on loads of stuff but leaves with nothing). if she didnt treat me like her maid, i wouldnt mind if she left with nothing. too bad she did. tsk. chinoise.

oh yes, another person has mistaken me for a malay, AGAIN. my teacher, the cleaning uncle in school, some of my friends, the cleaning auntie at HSBC, and now my new colleague. and they always test me(with their own ways) and when i understood them, they'd go, "EH? you chinese ah?"

YAH. i chinese ah. wo3 shi4 hua2 ren2. but my malay friend doesnt think i look malay. maybe i'm thai.

i'm so shagged. another 6 hours tomorrow. sigh. oh well, i'll psycho myself that i'd have more to spend for travelling then. THINK BIG, SEIGE, THINK BIG. you can pop by wisma if you want and i'll be at suburban filth. but dont talk to me because -think senior-head. singaporean senior head.

Coffeeperker

today's my last day of work because i resigned.
...okay, so i didnt quit. it's my last day because it's actually just a 2-days temporary job that the job agency had assigned me to. at least i drank their free cappucino before leaving.

today was much busier, more packed, and crazy. but with that, time passed way quicker than yesterday. and no nazis today! met a nice american(he even bothered to keep the stuff himself), but no nazisMr Big-Shots.

the perks of working by the huge glass window pane?

VJ Colby. he looked way hotter in person. okay, maybe not in person. through the window. okay, through the window, FROM THE SECOND FLOOR. maybe that's the angle that he looked hotter in. right. SO anyhow, i wasnt sure if it was him at first but since anna confirmed with me that mtv's headquarters is at dhoby ghaut, i'm p-reee-tty sure that it's Colby. now just how great is that?

"hi colby." *waves*

"TOO BAD YOU SMOKE."

damn, that's a darn turn-off for me. and it looked like he was a pretty heavy smoker too. oh well, i still like him as a VJ though. that is one sarcastic dude. and please, i cant deny the fact that he's hot. uh-huh,i should stop.

i was too shagged to go to daiso as planned. it's fine. i shall get those christmas items soon. now I KNOW christmas is nearly 3 months away but come on, look at me. do i look like i care?

The Real World

it's my first time working at such a highly reputable company. even as a receptionist, i felt a huge sense of responsiblity on my shoulders. there was no screwing up allowed because people were doing businesses as usual and i wasnt supposed to ruin it for them and expect them to forgive me just because it's my 1st day. thankfully, i dont think i did.

the phone rang endlessly in the morning. people on the phone were pretty friendly. wait. actually most people in the company were pretty friendly. even smiling at the finest point of just entering or leaving the office. that was nice.

in walked Mr I'm-such-a-big-shot-i-dont-have-time-for-your-amateur-clerical-performance-that-i-shall-frown-and-show-off-my-distorted-face-and-just-not-smile-at-all-even-though-it-takes-more-muscles-to-frown-and-i-will-so-look-at-you-with-my-nose-high-up-in-the-air-and-show-off-my-not-so-perfect-german-accented-english-AND-THEN-STILL-choose-not-to-smile-even-after-the-lady-i'm-meeting-with-tells-me-that-she-hasnt-book-a-room-so-i-cant-complain-because-i'm-a-corkscrew-jackass-and-i'm-too-*beep*-up-proud-to-be-humble.*backs off* i am not worthy. *bows*

he didnt give me a shot to be biased. not even a little bit. sucks for you, honey.

that's the real world. the society aint all that nice and perfect. and as ironic as it sounds, i'm kinda glad i encountered that because i've gotten the chance to experience the legendary "annoying client/customer" that everyone meets. who knew even working for just one day could be such an experience? at least now i know what a polycom is.

i'm going to raid the entire christmas section at daiso after work tomorrow. awesome.

and now, i shall go off to puke after staring at the computer for the entire day.

Fear Coups Certainty

i was feeling pretty certain of passing right after taking my supp paper. but as the time passed, that certain confidence has degenerated into some kind of fear. as the day is getting nearer, that sense of certainty is disappearing and my fear is taking over my mind, and soon my heart. my heart is still trying to stay positive, but there's going to be a coup.

what? cant a girl exaggerate?

the sms of doom for the second time. the misery.

and it sucks that i dont know when it'll come. this is getting too scary.

thud, thud.

Hunting Spree

we went on a wild job hunt yesterday in tampines.

only 4 out of over 10 shops that we asked gave us application forms to fill up. no wait, make that 3. one was more of a used receipt than an application form. none of these shops could confirm with us as well.

call me. my One Tree Hill discs are going down 5 episodes day by day already.

come on, do i really have to join Yo Momma?

Sunday, September 24, 2006

Nonsense and Reminiscence

Yo Momma is one of the shows that i've watched with one of the most retarded concepts ever. funny, i shall admit, but nonsensical. it's a show where two people trashtalk about each other. you know, the "yo' momma's so fat people jog around her for exercise" talk. and the one who out-trashes the other wins. $1000. CASH. and other little prizes as well.

either america's too darn rich, or the money's coming out of wilmer valderama's own pockets and he likes giving out money. you know what? i suggest everyone on holiday stop looking for a part-time job. YO MOMMA's the right place for you. you get to insult someone else, not get beaten up, and win CASH too. what're you waiting for?

SO ANYWAY, someone new added me on msn today. i didnt recognise the email add, and i couldnt see the avatar very clearly, so i had no clue who that was. and then this person said,

"TEOTEO!"

:O

"you know who i am anot?"

only one person calls me that. (ok, maybe 2, but the other's on my list already.)

i replied, "are you a quek?"

of course she was. my primary school classmate.

yeah. that's how we talk. and yes, i used to be called "TeoTeo". it was nice catching up with her since i havent seen her in a while even though she lives just a few blocks away from me.

which reminds me. mom mentioned about some holiday next week and i couldnt think of any reason for it, until she reminded me it was Children's Day. wow. it's been 6 years already.

I Dont Feel Like Dancing

in the midst of studying for my supp paper last night, i felt the need for a break from routing protocols and vlans, so i decided to play some music. but i was bored of the cds i had cos they've all been overplayed. so i decided to listen to the radio. but wait, not just listening to the same old station. i wanted to listen to something different. and i tuned in to...Yes 93.3 for the first time.

first song i heard was some acapella thingy by that malay band who joined one of those competitions and i thought, "hey, this ain't that bad." Then the second song came on. uh oh... cheesy. Third song came on and i decided that it's time to go back to perfect 10 or power 98. at least i tried.

so i tuned it back to perfect 10. and then, uh oh. one song came on. I Dont Feel Like Dancing by the Scissor Sisters. no...no...NO! i couldnt do it. i couldnt resist it. there was no way i could. i started dancing.

Scissor Sisters

get off your chair! i know you wanna dance!

how can you not dance to that(kinda ironic that i'm dancing to "I Dont Feel Like Dancing" though)? now, now, peeps, my moves are groovy like the old school, baby. the good ol' roll-your-hands-around-each-other, step-left-step-right, saturday night fever moves. whaddya say? i felt like Napolean Dynamite.

Napolean Dynamite :: Dance!

ok so i wasnt as...um, limber as he was, but it was something like this. and i didnt know what got into me, but i just burst out laughing after the song ended. me, alone in the room, laughing toat myself, in the middle of the night. i thought i had fun. :)

and that ended my recess from networking.

yeah, i'm weird like that.

Deja Vu

this is just plain hilarious.

(of course, you would have to watch the original video to get the joke.)

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

even though i knew this was coming, it's still hugely disappointing.

i have to take a supp paper for networking.

the feeling stinks. this wreaks. this really sucks. and i know it's all my own fault. nice work, seige, for screwing up the subject that you've chosen as your elective. nice work.

what have i done to myself?

something johnny said on The O.C. last night keeps ringing in my head. i'm just going to have to study my ass off 2 weeks.

Deep Thoughts at Dawn

i couldnt get to sleep again so i was just randomly searching all over online, reading blogs and i just found out this news:

Anna Nicole Smith's 20 yr old son died in the Bahamas on Sunday, a few days after the birth of her new daughter.

i'm sure we all know who Anna Nicole Smith is(and her story). naturally, i wouldnt say i'm a fan of hers at all, but i'm not going to say anything bad right now because she just lost her son. i never even knew she had a son, but no matter what, losing someone you love hurts really badly, and my heart goes out to her.

a moment of silence for the victims and heroes of 9-11.
a moment of silence for aussie's croc hunter, Steve Irwin.

you just never know when your last day's going to be, do you? sometimes we all wish we do, so that we can let everyone we love know how much we love them before we leave. the thing is, we dont know. and i think that leaving without having the chance to tell your loved ones that you love them would be the biggest regret ever. so we should tell them everyday, every moment, at every chance.

it's just...it's kinda harder to do that in asia. feelings are just so much harder to express. i think 2/10 kids here say "i love you" to their parents everyday. i wouldnt deny that i'm among the 8/10 of them. parents dont say it to their children as well. it's probably the way we were all being brought up. everything is just a step-by-step procedure that we follow tightly that there's actually not much space left for expressing our feelings. deep down inside we say it all the time, but that whole wall on the outside...sometimes, it seems like a pretty sad thing.

ok i really wanted to just blog about the Anna Nicole Smith news and i have no idea how i got to this.

oh well. i'm just glad my dad arrived in Coventry safely. and he mentioned that his hotel was located in a little town/village kind of area and the weather's perfect. and he saw a castle. just how flippin' awesome does that sound to you?

i wished i was there instead of here, worrying about the sms of doom that will come on thursday. i have a strong premonition this time that there would be a supp paper for me. crap.

no wait. i'm just thankful that everyone i love is healthy and safe.

i had loads of free time so ta-da.

was about time i changed it anyway.

What The *beep* Is Ladylike

i absolutely loved Storm Large's original song just now. It's called "What The What Is Ladylike"(originally "What The Fuck Is Ladylike"). i thought it was an awesome song. i think she wrote that because she's probably had many people tell her that she's not ladylike enough. ah, the familiarity.

actually, what is ladylike? not stuffing food down your throat in public even if you're hungry? not opening your mouth too wide? be all graceful and gentle when you talk? covering your mouth when you laugh? or not daring to laugh out loud? come on. the whole point of laughing is to relax and let go. that's where the term "burst out laughing" or a more affectionate term "lol" comes from, isnt it? you chat with someone on msn and you go "LOL" all the time. AND the moment you go out with that person(especially if he's a guy), you "chuckle". wow. that must have cost you alot of internal injuries.

ladies shouldnt be afraid to laugh...out loud. i mean, OF COURSE, if you are at some fancy restaurant and you're afraid of disturbing others, that i get. but elsewhere, it's actually not that bad to LAUGH without covering your mouth(unless you have a broccoli stuck between your teeth. then that's nothing to do with being ladylike of not. that's a whole other level).

another thing i dont get. that it's not "ladylike" to whistle out loud. now what is that? so a guy can whistle(or even wolf-whistle) anything he wants but a girl cant even whistle her favourite song? i've been told by many people before that girls shouldnt do that in public. "it's un-ladylike." yea, well, whoever said that whistling is a guy's right? i mean, it's so hard to have a favourite tune in your head that wont go away, and there's the huge urge to sing it out but because you dont intend to embarrass yourself with your weak singing, you whistle out the tune. and then these peopleolder ladiesaunties tell you it's "un-ladylike". gee. it makes me wonder.

and what's this about not eating chicken wings in front of guys just because they(ladies) have to use their hands and also to chew, peel and munch(or whatsoever you do with wings) the chicken and they're afraid of leaving behind not-very-pretty images? now that's just being stupid. because they'll only lose out when the guys have all the chicken wings while these ladies try to prevent themselves from salivating. tsk tsk.

i guess this might be a procastination of some kind and some guys might just be turned off by this. but hey, no offence to anyone. this is just my opinion- as someone who's been told 5,415,310,981 times that i'm not ladylike enough. i'm not saying that ladies should do everything that guys do(like shaving your underarms would be uh...better. although, IF YOU REFUSE TO, no one can uh,*cough*stop you*cough*) but it wouldnt be that bad to do certain things without having someone bark at your ear that "it's not right for a girl". okay i'll admit it, i have an absolutely annoying laughter. absolutely annoying. but i still have to laugh, dont i? *snort* i goofy-dance in public sometimes. "oh my, clowns like you belong in the circus." WRONG, you damn critics. i belong to The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

on to the job thing. i took off my black nail-polish last thursday for the interview just in case it's not allowed(not because it's un-ladylike) and the lady told me that i'd be told where to report on working day(today). cool. but when i called the guy up on monday, he said he'd put me on stand-by instead and he'd call me if they needed help. uncool. and he hasnt called me up yet.

i'm painting my black nail-polish back on.

A Mother's Child

spent half a day out today, getting my brother a mini refrigerator and then heading down to his dorm to fix it up. even though i've been to ntu a few times already, it's actually the first time that i went inside the room. and frankly, it wasnt as...well, nice as i had imagined it to be.

it's a lot smaller to begin with. 2 beds, 2 joint cupboards and 2 desks. that's not a bad thing. my only problem with the room is... the wall colour. i mean, beige? dull old beige? nothing but beige. how do you study in a room that has 4 beige walls and a bright greenish-blue splotted patterned curtain hanging by the only window? it's depressingnot very motivating. the environment outside's pretty peaceful and relaxing, but i'm sorry, the wall colours truly suck. if i could, i would've repainted the walls. unfortunately, well, technically, i..well, ok it isnt allowed. so the only thing left to give the walls more colour are the posters of Slipknot and Spiderman. posters are good.

but i must say, that other than those irky coloured walls, everything else is pretty cool. who am i in earth's name to comment anyway? it's not like i'm going to be there ever get the chance to go there anyway. heh.

my mother was hilarious. she couldnt stop talking. she couldnt stop telling my brother what he could do with the boiler, how he should keep his stuffs, how he could buy food and put them in the fridge, how he should wash and hang his clothes...etc. to a point where all three of us just kept quiet and watched her as she started to take out the shirts in the cupboard to refold them. she was so engrossed she had no idea we were watching her. we burst out laughing.

it's such a natural behaviour. a mother's instinct. my dad suggested that she could ask for an iron table and that maybe she should spend the night there. if she could i think she probably would. by tomorrow morning the room will smell of rosemary. it doesnt matter if he's 12 or 21. he'll always be mommy's little boy to her. mothers can be so cute sometimes. haha.

my dad's going to uk next sunday(unfortunately I'M NOT). that's flippin' cool BUT i'm a little worried. normally i wouldnt, because he's been travelling all around the world since i was born. only this time, he's going to UK when it's going to be september 11th. oh my uglysneakers, what am i saying? OF COURSE NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.*thwaps self*

Ryan Star is OUT!

i'm shocked.

after this performance? i am truely shocked. i've never really been a huge fan of him as a person but i always enjoyedadored his performances. he was a really intense performer. i thought Storm was going to be out(even though i've been a fan of hers since her 1st performance). then again, all the bitter things he said after he got eliminated was kind of a turn-off for me so... ciao, Ryan.

i'm rooting for Magni. i loved every one of his performances. i'm rooting for him! plus, he's from iceland. if not, aussie boy Toby(EVS).

...and i'm just gonna continue here like a blabbering nerd while you guys wonder what on earth's land i'm talking about. excuse me. i forgot to mention that i'm talking about Rockstar: Supernova".

Screwed

2 papers done in a day. One, i'm 70% sure of passing. One, i'm 20% sure. i do not mean scoring. i'm talking about 'passing'.

1 more paper to go.

bring me the screwdriver.

The Morning Show with..

check this dude out. his videos crack me up everytime i watch them.

here are a few of my favourites:

Instant Message Programs
Internet Recognition
The Art of Impressionism (this one is really good. watch it to the very end.)

he's so annoying. but he's hilarious. or maybe it's his face.

yeah i cant sleep again.

Thursday, August 24, 2006

i havent slept yet.

and i found this. Knocking On Heaven's Door.

it's a tribute to Freddie Mercury, a year after his death.
and it's bloody good.

oh wait. this is even better. Bohemian Rhapsody. other Queen members playing in the background. i thought it was flippin' awesome when the crowd sang along.

i'm starting to feel the need to take out a lighter and wave it in the air... except it'll be kinda weird because it's 3am in the morning and everyone else is asleep, plus lighters burn me 40% of the time.

well.

it's funny how i normally have the patience to wait for someone for an hour and yet, not have any to wait for a webpage to load.

it's even funnier when i dont have the patience to wait for the next bus to come(because it takes 20-25 mins) and walk home from school, which will take me 45 minutes.

i think it'll be funniest when the strap on my slipper snaps right when i reach the bus-stop in front of my block.

no it didnt just happen.

Under Pressure

the inventors of the teevo, the radio and the computer are geniuses... and murderers. i cant get myself to study. there is a sense of urgency(...somewhere) and yet i'm still unmotivated. loads of DISTRACTIONS. and i am one person who gets easily distracted.

give me a noisy environment and i cant concentrate. give me a quiet environment and i get distracted by the tiniest actions. play my favourite music on the radio while i study and you'll find me moving and singing along to the the songs with my eyes closed, the pencil as my microphone. lock me in a room and you'll find foolscap papers filled with drawings and words that have nothing to do with what i'm studying, spread all over the desk. glue me to my seat with my notes opened in front of me and that's right, i'll think about what to eat.

Queen's album is playing on my radio right now. see? i never learn.

Barrier? What Barrier?

i caught the movie 'The Break-Up' at the grand cathay yesterday. the movie was just alright(then again, most jennifer aniston's movies are like that), but the building was pretty cool... although, disappointingly empty. most shops weren't open yet so the entire place was really quiet. the interior of starbucks looked really grand though. it looked like some kind of posh restaurant. perhaps everything in the Grand Cathay was supposed to look grand?

inside the cinema? maaan.. i gotta give it up to the people who designed it! i've got to! it looked nothing, NOTHING, like your typical cinema. just how grand and posh was it? well let's just say...it felt like i was going to watch 'Phantom of the Opera' at some old english theatre. like i needed to put on a big dress that i cant breathe in and hold a pretty little fan. AND converse with a very strong english accent. yes. come on, there was a stage in it. what more can i say?

maybe it was just that particular cinema that i was in(Cinema 1) because my friend said that was the grandest out of all 6. but whatever it is, boy, was it grand. (how many times have i said that word already?)

later on, we were at orchard when this lady came up to us. she was a short, cute 50, 60 something year old japanese who wore a really cute hat on her head even though it was night time already (i told you she was japanese). i've decided to call her cutelady-san.

cutelady-san: "uh..excoos me.."
us: "yes?"
cutelady-san: "hjfajnbac hdfakueip jiriowi fpoiiow ndukejbmsdj nfsiue..."(<-japanese)
us: *stared at each other* "uh..."
cutelady-san: "jhfsaiej jdjceiw nsdiej ncjdkau niweuwenf..." (this time, with better hand gestures)
friend: "i think she's trying to ask us how to get across to the other side."

so we pointed her(with HUGE gestures) in the direction of the traffic light area where she could cross.

cutelady-san: "ah. ndajkswioef jahkdjue ndkajsher kjahadas jdiw?(which meant "oh..so i walk right and then go straight and i can cross? and wow, you girls are really pretty! you look like stars!" yea,i presume that was it. ...ok, the last 2 sentences were made up. but i'm pretty sure she understood our directions.)"
me: *does head-bowing thing* "hai, hai!"
cutelady-san: *amused* thank-you velimuch!

there. i always knew japanese was one of my stronger languages. *shines*

just wait till a french asks me for directions.

Human Nature

you always think you have it bad until someone else comes along the way. then maybe you'll realise that sometimes your problems arent as big as another's. there's so much drama going on around lately. so much. i guess life isnt all ha ha hee hee.

girls freak me out sometimes, and some guys, well, i just dont get.

here's one girl who REALLY freaks me out.

NDP '06

i just caught the national day parade on tv, and i think this year's parade seemed to feel much shorter than previous years. it's probably the performances, which were being cut down or something. or maybe it's just me. afterall, the duration's still the same. but whatever it is, i liked that it seemed shorter. less is more.

this year's pre-ndp spirit seemed to be much quieter also. i dont recall seeing the national day song being played on tv as much as previous years(just look as last year. rui en and taufik almost drove me crazy with their catchy tune). which makes sense since most people around me didnt even know who Kaira Gong(is that her name?) was. Neither did i. but now i do. she's the girl who sang at the parade. that's what i'm going to remember her by. she seemed pretty sweet though. a pretty likeable image.

ALTHOUGH, i did catch a glimpse of her coming in too early before it was cue for the second verse...and yet, no sound came out of the mic. chill. i'm not going to make a big fuss out of it. it's not like we dont know they lip-sync at every parade. hah.

it's kinda sad to know that the national stadium's going to be pulled down. afterall, it is the NATIONAL STADIUM. it's singapore's stadium. pulling it down is like taking away part of singapore's history. i've been to the stadium umpteen times. i watched the parades a few years in a row there some years back.

and let's admit it. even the most anti-singapore person would feel different when he's there. watching the parade with thousands of other fellow singaporeans, you'll feel a sense of pride, a sense of harmony, a sense of belonging. you'll cheer when the free-fallers land. you'll do the kallang wave when the hosts tells you to. you'll say the pledge when the whole stadium stands up. you'll scream and sing when the fireworks are being shot up to the sky. and best of all, you'll dig and dig the goodie bag until it's all emptied out, making sure that you get everything that everyone else has. now that's being singaporean.

and then you'll go back to work or school the next day complaining about how the government makes life difficult for us and how singapore's so stressful and blah, blah, blah. but deep down inside, you KNOW there's is a little bit of patriotism somewhere. it's true. and hey, coming from me especially, you better believe it.

patriotic or not(there're less than 15 households who hang the national flag outside their homes in my block ,i think), there's one thing that i cant do. if watching singapore idol is being patriotic, then yikes. *coughs* too bad "RockStar: Supernova" and "Singapore Idol" falls on the same day, at the same time. i cant help it. HEH. which reminds me, i absolutely loved Magni's accoustic performance tonight. it was awesome.

remember that issue that's been affecting me? i think it's been solved. at least for a while. i'm happier. exams are approaching, and that sucks, but this issue's settled. seriously, a HUGE sigh of relief.

happy 41st.

Livin' On A Prayer

good riddance. i've finally handed up my java project thanks to the help of my friend. i hope it's good enough because there's nothing else i can really depend on now to help me pass that subject. if i had to spend another semester retaking internet computing applications, i'd morph into the hulk. no, seriously. i guess i can only cross my fingers now and pray that i will pass.

1 down...

...5 more to go.

i'm waiting for the sweet smell of freedom. being burden-free. having no extra weight to carry on my shoulders. actually being able to go home at 1pm when i finish school at 1pm. bring on the holidays. i'm ready for them. i'm all suited up and raring to go. totally ready. ready as can be. ready. waiting, and ready. r..eady.

..hello? is anyone... there?

which reminds me. i found out that my dad will be going to UK for a few days next month for work. let's see.

united kingdom... dad... singapore... seige... 2 months holiday...ingenius plans... see a connection between these words? i sure do. i've started hinting. :) there's little possibility that i would be able to tag along, but it doesnt hurt to hint. it never does. heh.

bring on the holidays ol' chum!

Directions please?

i have to stay back everyday to work on my java project. and at the end of the day, it always seems like nothing much was achieved. i dont think i'm entirely clueless of what to do next, but i think i just dont know how to continue writing them out. i mean...cant we just play the real "mastermind" game, dammit?

honestly, it sounds kinda ridiculous and wrong to still be questioning if what i'm taking now is the right one for me. and no, it doesnt seem right. it wasnt, and it's supposed to be now, but it's still not. i know i have to be sure, at the very least. i mean, i'm already in my 2nd year. i'm turning 18.

the thing is, right up to this very moment as i'm typing, i'm still questioning myself. would things be less easy if i had actually gone into something that i had real passion for? not neccessarily. but would it feel this miserable? to have to question myself everyday on this path that i've taken? definitely not. it wasnt a path that i've chosen. not technically. but i've taken it. i took it. have i, perhaps, set foot on the wrong route? yes, perhaps.

but i want to make this route right. i seriously do. guidance. that's what i want. someone who seriously knows this thing. someone who seriously knows, understands and appreciates what infocomms is all about. just that someone. this uneccessary stress would've been avoidable if i had just been a little smarter.i shouldnt have allowed myself to take up something i had little interest in(though i had little choice), but now that i've taken it, i dont want to regret it. i hate regretting. i hate regretting.
clueless? maybe. a lost sheep? perhaps.

this is wasting my brain cells.

...i just want to draw.

Life As I Know It part 2

i've been explained to about why certain things happened and now i understand. it doesn't make me guilty about the way i reacted, but it makes me sorry that you felt that way for that to happen. i guess i knew it somewhere inside of me, but to have you try to explain it to me, i knew it was tough. i do know. deep inside, i do.

all's good now.

i've been having weird and extreme dreams(or nightmares) for the past few weeks and there's no real explanation for them, but they're pretty disturbing ones. let's just say they involved murder, and suicides, right before my eyes. and they were all dreams of separate nights. i've told anna about them and she thinks i need more chocolates. haha. maybe?

but that dream interpreter thing. i think it got me into digging further down inside my feelings, to parts that i've never thought about before, and parts that i have, and it is, well, i'm not sure..might...somehow, perhaps...be true? freaky.

Life As I Know It

i think you have no idea how unsupportive you get sometimes, and you have no idea how to show your love to someone the way it's supposed to be.

just when i wanted to blog about something funny that happened yesterday. thanks alot.

just in case you were wondering, yes, i slammed the door behind me. i did kick the table, i did slam my stool on my bed, and i did punch my hand on the cupboard.

"violent frustration
he cries out to God or just no one
is there a point to this madness
and all that he was is just a tragedy

He feels alone
His heart in his hand
He's alone
He feels like
I feel

Then on that last day he breaks
and he stood tall
then he yelled, then he yelled
and he takes his life"

-Poetic Tragedy by The Used

i'm not suicidal. but i played this song over and over.

An Earful

i dont know what it is, but this year seems to be a really unlucky one for me. especially recently. bad things just seems to happen to me, one after another.

take the past 3 months. i had fallen real ill twice within 2 months(which didnt use to happen), my previous thumbdrive was suddenly unrecognized by the computer(which meant that everything i had inside was gone), the other thumbdrive i used suddenly became corrupted and stuffs became so jumbled up. i had to redo my java twice. and we know how much i hate just even doing it once. plus there're other issues going on(issues). and to add to my series of unfortunate events,my right ear is still blocked. still! i cant believe it. it's been 5 bloody days already. 5 whole bloody days. the medicine's not taking any effect yet. give me a break. unblock yourself, dammit! UNBLOCK NOW!

i said, UNBLOCK NOW! u bloody thing.

peeling the skin off 100 potatoes? i think i've got another 200 onions to chop as well. TSK. TSK.

of course, the recent tsunami victims have it much worse and i sympathize with them. i know that i should feel lucky that i have a home and a life already. but living my life as it is now, i just have to rant. i'm sorry.

What A Bomb

i know it's a little late and all but...
...i cant believe we actually discovered a bomb at the construction site in toa payoh! when my mother first told me what she heard, i didnt believe her because it wasnt the first few headlines of the news that night. and then i saw the news. there was a bomb.

funny enough, the first thought that came to my mind was "it's probably from World War 2," since toa payoh's one of the older areas in singapore but my mom was all worried that it might be another terrorist attempt. i dont know why i never thought of that at first, but it turned out that i was right. and from that, let me just say this:

wooooaaaaaaah. a bloody bomb! an actual bomb from world war 2 that could've gone off anytime! WOAH! maybe we could've done something else instead of setting it off at the open area. we've could've like...mailed it back to japan or something, for memorance. and on the box it'll say, "Hey guys! remember this?" now that would've been pretty cool.

...okay letting it explode was definitely the best way.
i love japan. i do. really. really. world peace y'all.

nothing about me that i can talk about because my life has basically become as boring as sitting on a stool peeling the skin off 100 potatoes. yes. when it's project period, that's how it goes. *yawn* except though, my right ear has been blocked for 2 days. the kind where sometimes you blow your nose too hard and the inside of your ear gets blocked. only i havent had flu. it just suddenly became blocked. so i'm looking for remedies. anybody knows a way to unblock it?

boy, my life's such a bomb. pun intended.

Pinball Wizard

Pinball Wizard

Ever since I was a young boy,
I've played the silver ball.
From Soho down to Brighton
I must have played them all.
but I ain't seen nothing like him
In any amusement hall.
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball!

He stands like a statue,
Becomes part of the machine.
Feeling all the bumpers
Always playing clean.
plays by intuition,
The digit counters fowl.
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball!

He's a pinball wizard
There has to be a twist.
A pin ball wizard,
S'got such a supple wrist.

How do you think he does it?
I don't know!
What makes him so good?

ain't got no distractions
Can't hear no buzzers and bells,
Don't see no lights a flashin'
Plays by sense of smell.
Always gets a replay,
Never seen him fowl,
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball.

I thought I was
The Bally table king.
But I just handed
My pinball crown to him.

Even on my favorite table
He can beat my best.
His disciples lead him in
And he just does the rest.
He's got crazy flipper fingers
Never seen him fowl.
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball!

Flippin' weirdo.

happy 4th July.

i need more hours on my hands.
i need more brain cells to work with.
perhaps i can play with the clock.

i could swim in the ocean.
and maybe drown myself.
or i could morph into the Hulk.
yea, i could morph.

happy independence day, america.

Bewitched, Bothered, and Boston

i mentioned that i was bothered in the previous entry. there is a problem, and i dont think it's going away anytime soon. but i'm not going to think about it for now. i'm not going to let it affect me.

i appreciate the concern of some of my pals but...i just cant really talk about it. i'm sorry but i've always been a pretty private person when it comes to my problems. and i dont mean problems like failing a test or something but problems. big, tough, real ones.

it's uncomfortable for me to talk to someone even if it's someone real close. i just really keep lots of things to myself. things that i find hard to share. so forgive me if i'm not talking.

here's the irony though. i really want to talk about it, but because i dont feel right doing so, it works for me by writing it out. i express better this way. but this issue's too personal. and i'm a private bitch. so i'm just going to feel tortured inside for this whole period. oh wait. i said i wasnt going to think about it so that i wont feel affected. that's right. i'm not going to freaking think about this unfair piece of crap.

not to worry, because when i really, really do need to talk, i talk to my bolster. it's true. my best mate at night. i mean, it cant talk back, and that makes it a really good listener. besides, i'm a psychotic private bitch so this makes perfect sense doesnt it? (talked to my slippers, wrote a letter to my tv..)

oh yes, i finally own Augustana's album. turns out it was sold $10 cheaper at Gramophone! 10 dollars! i'm so glad anna spotted it. now that, makes me happy.

yes. i think i'll go to Boston.

In The Deep

Thought you had
all the answers
to rest your heart upon.
But something happens,
don't see it coming, now
you can't stop yourself.
Now you're out there swimming...
In the deep.
In the deep.

Life keeps tumbling your heart in circles
till you... Let go.
Till you shed your pride, and you climb to heaven,
and you throw yourself off.
Now you're out there spinning...
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep.

And now you're out there spinning...
And now you're out there spinning...
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep.

And the silence,
or your secrets, well
raise a worry hand.
Well, you can pin yourself back together,
to who you thought you were.
Now you're out there livin'...
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep.

In the deep...

Now you're out there spinning...
Now you're out there swimming...
Now you're out there spinning...
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep.
In the deep...

*coughs*

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away."

as if.

i eat at least 2 apples a day and yet i've fallen sick twice within these 2 months. it's ridiculous. i'll probably die before i turn 40 if i carry on at this rate.

i came down with a slight fever on wednesday night, and on thursday, my temperature rose to about 38.4 degrees celsius. i had to go out on thursday afternoon (where i met a really interesting old lady on the bus on my way back. but i'll tell that story another time.) to post some stuffs and i decided to get myself a strawberry fair fresco drink. dang, my throat never felt so good. that is one mighty fine drink! but when i got home, my temperature rose to a 38.6. i thought it was supposed to cool me down. yeah whatever.

going to school on friday with a high fever wasnt exactly a good idea but i didnt feel right not going because i didnt want to miss out on what's going on. we didnt really do alot then but i'm glad we didnt because i think my brain cells stopped functioning for a bit. the aircon in the lab didnt do me any favours. i was shivering under my hooded sweater so much, my friend thought i looked a lot like Charlie of the show, LOST. like a drug addict. i could imagine.

then they told me there were red spots around my eyes that looked like mosquito bites but i figured it was just the flu anyway so i brushed that concern off. i mean, you would probably think so too, right? but damn, the fever was getting to me by then. it seemed as though i was a little delusional. cuckoo. cuckoo.

when i got home, i immediately sponged my head with a cold cloth and covered my eyes with it til i fell asleep. but that wasnt going to do any trick. when i woke up upon the return of my mom, my eyes could barely open. i could feel a thick, heavy layer of skin almost laying on top, disallowing me to open my eyes any further. the entire area around my eyes had actually swelled up so bad that my double eyelids became single. i looked like crap.

on our way to the doctors, people we walked past kinda stared at my eyes for a bit before quickly looking away. now i know how it feels like to have people staring at you because you look different. yea my eyes swelled up because i've too much fire inside them and i'm trying to control it before they shoot out like superman's, ok? freaks.

turns out i'm allergic to panadol. it seems i cant take 2 at a time. i think i was actually amazed when i heard that. i mean come on! i've never heard of anyone who's allergic to panadols! they're panadols! i've taken them so many times before. OH..okay. two panadols. sheesh. but Doc did mention that swelling eyes might cause breathlessness which kinda freaked me out a little. and my temperature rose to 39.1 degrees, i started reminding myself what my name is in case i burnt my brain. that's one crazy ride.

but i felt much better yesterday, and fever actually went down last night when my friends came over for some reason. they ended up watching the world cup according to previous plans(which was later cancelled due to me falling ill, and then somehow went accordingly again) and eventually, stayed over. that's like, 5 people, who i presume, have "strong body immunity"(so they say), over. my house became a hotelhostel overnight. good times.

my temperature seems to be rising again. the damn heat.

It's a Feet thing

had a barbeque at east coast park with some old friends yesterday. i wouldnt say we did alot of activities but i thought it was nice just gathering with old friends, especially some i haven't seen in a while. alas, i finally got to play a little bit of soccer. sure, it was a volleyball. too bad the 2 coconut trees were growing in such perfect distance to make a goal post.

anyway, my dear old green "Tsunami" flip flops have finally decided to give way(yeah it has "tsunami" written on it). after 6 long months of torturing heat and slippery grounds, it has finally retired. i remember how i got it. it saved me when my sandals spoilt as i was on my way to chinatown with mom. those lovely green things. it braved the rain with me, suffered under the brutal sun with me, fought to keep me balanced on wet grounds. that's until...the entire sole wore out completely a few weeks back. but no, i wasnt about to give it up. mom cut some holes in it to create friction. and yea, it totally worked.

but i guess, wearing a slipper that's already falling apart to play soccer's not exactly a good idea. heh.

oh well Greenies, you guys have been totally comfortable and great buddies, and now it's finally time you guys take a break. thanks for being my pals for so long...

...i'm gonna toss them out first thing tomorrow morning.

so uh, i guess you guys wanna give me the number to the psychiatrist now?

Teddy Geiger, An Intimate Session

thursday night was, how should i say it...oh yeah, awesome.

i'm talking about Teddy Geiger's mini showcase at Balaclava.

we reached pretty early, and by pretty early, i mean 3 hours earlier. dont scream at me for being freakishly early, because when we got there, a queue had already formed. i really wonder what time the first person got there. so yes, it was embarrassing at first, sitting outside a bar filled with working men and women, drinking and smoking, probably wondering what the whole fuss is all about. i think they were probably going, "Teddy who?" Teddy Geiger, my friends.

the door opened 15 minutes later than it said it would, and of course, we managed to enter. the place was a lot smaller than i had imagined it to be. i imagined inside to have chairs, you know, like high stools or something, and people would be sitting around tables as they watch the performance. turns out that was only for the outside. or well, they probably took away those stuffs just for that night. but it didnt matter. because i was inside anyway.

i got a pretty good view from my little corner. and it worked well because we were soooo close to the stage. an intimate session alright. but then again, the distance from the stage to the door wasnt that far.

waiting sucked. because there was no room for movement, and honestly, there wasnt much we could do. ...WELL, much. some pretty weird conversations were going on behind us and hey, when you're squeezed together like that, you cant help but overhear stuffs. it didnt help that the girl behind me kept nudging me with her bag. but all the sacrifices were worth it.

Carrie Chong looked really pretty and sweet in person. she hosted, by the way. and then, what i've waited for. Teddy Geiger. Flippingly talented, he sang and played the keyboard and the guitar, performing 6 tracks off his album. alone on stage, it was totally accoustic. what made the performance even better was that he actually sounded good live. it was totally worth it.

the audience chanted for an encore after he disappeared off stage, and he reappeared, ever so shyly. i'm glad he did, because he performed my favourite song off the album, *ahem* "Look Where We Are Now". that was the git baby! can you imagine how happy i was after that performance? just imagine. i'm not kidding! seriously, imagine.

so we saw singapore's dear old irish man, Shan Wee, and MTV vjs May and Choy were there too. um, and i uh..spotted Rina from 8tv(m'sian channel). no one around me knew who she was but hey, i watched her on my 8tv for a couple of months! i thought she was a pretty whacky host. a pity that she was smoking though. tsk, tsk.

right. back to our singer. so Teddy Geiger was given a zhongruan in between the show and i thought that was a really cool gift. so here're the pictures, courtesy of anna's camera. :)

one cool chinese guitar.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
okay, how on earth do you play this thing...?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
i wont be sleeping till i figure this thing out, for sure!

yes, i had a great time.

Music Therapy

i used to say "Music is my salvation". that's because i loved music.

today, i realised, that music IS my salvation. because one simple song with great lyrics can make me feel 10 times better, like almost immediately. immediate effect, i say. Music therapy really works for me.

so i just discovered this band. well.. okay, i didnt discover them, and they're probably not that new or anything, but they're new to me, so yeah. anyway, they're called Augustana, and i find their stuff pretty appealing. to me, that is. it's my kind of music.

check them out:
Augustana

think i might get their album soon.
(i'm spending too much on cds!)

just randomly, i think a conversation with a friend earlier on reminded me that "we should never change ourselves to be someone else so other people will like us. why waste our lives being someone else we're not?" oh, and i think that smart women should never act dumb just because they think men would prefer a ditzy blonde to an intelligent brunette.

of course, i'm not smart. but i dont act, so that's a totally different story. it just means i'm stupid. dont read too much into it. haha.

i'll leave some lyrics of my newly fascinated song.
"You don't know me,
And you don't even care, oh yeah,
Well you said,
You don't know me,
And you don't wear my chains, oh yeah.

She said I think I'll go to Boston.
I think I'll start a new life.
I think I'll start it over, where no one knows my name.
I'll get out of California, I'm tired of the weather,
I think I'll get a lover and fly 'em out to Spain. Oh yeah well
I think I'll go to Boston.
I think that I'm just tired.
I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind.
I think I need a sunrise, I'm tired of Sunset,
I hear it's nice in the summer, some snow would be nice, oh yeah."

Enough

i think, perhaps, it's time for me to say this.

WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM? come, tell me the fuckin' problem. please, just tell me so i can seriously understand you guys better. yay. please. ...oh, i'm sorry what? oh it's cool.. after all, it only affects me in every way. oh sure, i'm happy, carry on. it doesnt bother the shit out of me one bit. mmhmm. i love it when you guys do that. it's great. it's like music to my ears. beautiful music. great sound. here's an idea. how about cutting an album? oh my that's gonna be sooo cool. i'm 77% sure your album sales will SUCK. hoorah.

so okay. i see how come he always has to step up to try to mediate things. because i dont have the dumbass guts to do it. i dont even know what i'm afraid of. i dont know why i dont have the guts. i've actually been given so many rights in my position, but where has my gut run off to? i'm starting to think i was born without guts used for this area. i just take cover in patheticness, cursing and swearing to myself, slamming pillows and kicking my bed everytime this happens. i swear i get tired of it. i really do. i wish my inner Pink would come out.

and somehow, this happens even more now than it used to.

why?

why?

why.

OH MY GOD. stop rubbing it in already. why is it still going on? WHAT IS THIS? why on earth are you so sensitive? a 3yr old child will get over it in 5 minutes. should i perhaps, buy you candy so you would stop? let's all exchange roles now.

i am really tired of putting my ears to the door at night. i really am. i'm tired of being subtle. I DONT WANT TO DO THIS ANYMORE. but because i'm gutless, can you just stop this on your own? please. i am begging you. please. i'll give up anything. just please stop this. on second thought, i'm not giving up my guitar. it's too foolish.

i am only looking forward to Teddy Geiger's performance tomorrow night even more.

just stop it.

i wish for Pink.

The good ol' days

it's the World Cup and baby, the fever is on.

now dont get me wrong. i'm not one who would usually sit down to watch a soccer match on cable unless i have nothing to do. the World Cup is an exception partly because it happens only once every 4 years, and partly because it always happens during the june holidays.

onto normal occasions. now i dont hate the sport. i just dont like sitting around watching a game if it's going nowhere. and by that, i mean no one's attacking or scoring. in fact, i prefer playing the sport more than watching it. i miss the good ol' sec school days where my pals and i would run around the field during p.e. with the soccer ball. i miss that. i want to play. but no one seems to be free for that. i mean, well DUH, i'm not great or anything, but i like playing it. i dont mind getting dirty and being tackled if i have fun. i miss soccer. i miss kicking. i miss my soccer mate(jean ;p). i miss... oh wait, i think my bro just bought... a new soccer ball. hmm. *harbours designs on it*

i remember the England vs Brazil match in 2002. i actually skipped *coughs* ahem, something*coughs* (Anna, shhh) just to watch that match. it was cool though, because my cousins came over, we had pizza, and hey, Brazil won. :)

how long has it been? like 3 weeks? yes, i think that's how long my computer at home has been down.

i know that some serious things are happening to some of my closest friends(you guys know who you are) and i hope they can really hang on. just let me complete my damn term tests and i'm theirs. please hang on, guys(zhen). i'll be there, i promise.

just one more thing to add. teddy geiger's performing at Balaclava next Thursday, and i'm going. awesome.

COLDPLAY IS COMING TO SINGAPORE FOR A CONCERT!

Coldplay- Twisted Logic.
ohmygod.

i have to go. even though i've been trying to save up for the past few months, i have to go. i know i can only afford the cheapest ticket($68) but i have to go. it's Coldplay for god's sake. i really wanna go.

i'm counting on you, anna(heh) but in case she doesnt want to, is there anyone who wants to go too? come on y'all. it's Coldplay.

"hot"shot

i was right. my stress level rose last week, and it was only the second week of school. pop quiz: what is the one thing that can really drive me crazy and hyperventilate like a freak-child even right at the beginning of a new school year?

answer: internet computing applications. oh, right. to simplify it, it's java.

YES. i'm not even going to talk about it. it's over anyway. i'm just going to say that this isnt going to be an easy year...for sure. i'm pretty sure the teacher's probably blacklisted me in his little black book. p-reee-tty sure. heck, you guys. i screwed up. eeek.

the weather's not helping at all. it's going to start giving me grumpy mornings if i wake up feeling totally uncomfortable because of the humidity. and knowing that my dad and bro are totally relaxed and enjoying themselves in that acceptably cool weather right now makes me want to get out of here now even more! i am ready for the polar shift. bring it! bring it!

but it's alright, cos friday's a holiday and it's no secret that i like holidays. want to know what the best thing about a holiday is? there's no school! no school. okay i just thought i needed to emphasize on that, in case you havent heard me. heh. NO SCHOOL y'all. right, right. i'm done. i promise.

anyway, sunday's mother's day and i made her a card. shhh. i used to make her cards at every occasion, like her birthday, mother's day or even my parents wedding anniversary (and so) since i was little but i kinda stopped a few years back. so since she is going to have only 1 child at home on mother's day this year, i decided to make her a card. there's just...one problem. the card didnt turn out to be the way i imagined it to be. oh well, i shall uh.. we'll see. shhhhh. :)

Everything to anything

woke up earlier than usual today because we had to be at the airport by 6.30am. i'm sorry, i meant my father and brother had to be at the airport by 6.30am to check in. i was feeling pretty happy. i was humming to tunes, walking around the house like it was such a beautiful morning.

seriously, i think i had actually convinced myself that i was going to USA too. like, really convinced. i was basically living in my own thoughts until it hit me while having breakfast, that the only place i was going to go was school. i watched them walk into the departure hall. yup, i definitely wasnt going. but hey, i reminded my bro to take me pictures of the San Francisco bridge. and he's gonna add in Alcatraz as well. works for me! and i got him to buy me vintage tees if he sees them. yay.

it's me and mom now. it's cool. now she has nearly 3 weeks less of male laundry to do. "male laundry". hah. anyway, on our way back, we were talking about driving and i had no idea that the entire learning packaged costed so much. i think i might have to wait longer than i thought. oh well.

so she said that she learnt driving back then so that she could help my father out sometimes. like fetching him to the airport when he needs to travel, transporting things, or driving my brother and i to school.

Mom said,"so next time, you can fetch your kids to school too."

i told her grandma will probably be the one fetching them to school. i'm the best daughter in the world! :)

on a side note, i think something might be wrong with my right hand. the nerves died on me for a few minutes twice recently, when i woke up(and i dont think it's because i slept on them because i rarely sleep facing the right), and now my right palm trembles uncontrollably when i rest it. shit.

Word Play?

*suffering from writer's block*

uh, school's been alright, with the schedule being less packed this semester. of course, it's only the first week. come next week, everyone's probably going to start freaking out at hearing the words, "assignments", "projects" and " general election". *shudders*

i'm taking arts appreciation this term and i guess, taking this subject, you'd either love it or hate it. it's not going to be easy, but at least i know i like it for now. well, chances to express myself. there's no way i'm gonna miss out on that.

oh and i met marcus yesterday. apparently, we both weren't sure if it was either of us but we just waved at each other anyway. heh.

um... yes. writer's block.

A Well-Deserved break, indeed.

i know i have been having a break for a pretty long time, but i realised that anna was right. it's a well deserved one. i mean, after all, i have been stressing out during the last few terms of school and suffering under the pressure of the workload given, most of which, i had trouble understanding.

i deserved this break.

and i got it. going away made it better. 2 days away from singapore was refreshing, and good enough for me to completely relax myself. i was wonderfully relaxed. this time round, there wasn't any pressure to return home on time because i didnt have to go to school the next day.

and by relaxed, i meant truely relaxed. so relaxed until i allowed myself to pig out for 2 days. really. i indulged myself in heavenly meals for dinner and breakfast on thursday and friday respectively. buffets. yes, it's always been a guilty pleasure. there was no way that i was going to be there, and miss out on the sumptuous varieties in front of me. come on, who could resist that roast beef, grilled dory, kebabs, turkey ham...and all that jazz?

we ate well and engaged in silly little conversations about everything. and mostly, we made fun of my mom throughout the whole trip because everything she did or say was hilarious. she really cracked us up alot, and i think we did the same to her. also, she stepped into starbucks for the first time in her life. well done, momma! (wait till you hear what happened there. haha!)

although, being away from singapore for a couple of days made me appreciate some of singapore's systems. i guess sometimes, when you feel sick and tired of this place, it's good to get away for a while. and then you return home, and compared to some places, this truely is a safe and clean city. but of course, those 2 days were defintely worth it (excluding the traffic jam on our way back. STINKIN' JAM).

anyway, i've always wondered how my father knew the roads so well. it's one thing to know the roads in singapore, but it's another to know roads in other countries. he's driven in soooo many different places, it seems as though he has a street directory in his head. seriously. he's taken us to places behind old streets in malaysia, through country roads, and even through the rubber plantations once. places and roads that tour buses will never take you to. even in countries like new zealand and australia. plus, he's got driving skills of a daredevil(it scares me sometimes haha). my father always makes sure that we enjoy ourselves. that's one reason why i love holidaying with my family so much.

i think i'm lucky. because i dont feel the need or urge to disagree with things my parents tell me to do, stay away from them or feel embarrassed to be seen with them like some kids my age do(i'm sure they have their reasons). i guess, maybe, my parents and i have a mutual understanding for one another. they respect me as much as i respect them. like how they dont really give me restrictions sometimes, so i respect them by not pushing things to the limit. AND, i have to talk to my mom every night. i just cant shut it, and sometimes, i think she secretly wishes i'm like other kids who just dont talk to their parents. heh. not gonna happen anytime soon, mom!

...we just havent seen each other for weeks. hah. but it was nice catching up. even though we really just talked the whole night through, with a couple of mishaps with fried chilli mushrooms, i enjoyed it. boy, are things gonna be different when school re-opens.

i'm gonna miss "LOST" tomorrow night. darn. and possibly "The Amazing Race" and "Survivor". triple darn. OH. "Joan of Arcadia". dang it. going on holiday's such a hard thing. darn nutcracker on a cow's behind.

so okay, dont try to contact me on my phone tomorrow and friday. well, you could. but you'll have to pay more. ;)

ciao for now.

The Misadventures of Anna & Seige

let me let you in on a stupid story.

this afternoon, i was over at anna's to help her thin down her hair. so both of us went into the toilet, and i started cutting. snip, snip, snip. now, the door was closed, but it wasn't locked. i didnt think much at first.

we heard a noise coming from the storeroom, and anna immediately told me to lock the door. it wasnt a burglar or anything. it was...our grandmother. apparently, she didnt want our grandma to know that i was cutting her hair. we whispered a little, stopped talking, and held our breaths.

nope, no more sound. our grandma had returned to the kitchen. PHEW. so anna turned on the radio(yeah she has a radio in the bathroom) and i continued snipping(hah). SNIP, SNIP. then it came.

grandma asked anna some question on oil or something. YIKES. i quickly shut my mouth, and started thinking, ok, planning, on what to say to grandma if she finds out i'm in there. eeks. of course, i was secretly praying that she would just walk back to the kitchen. that's right. praying hard. BUT NO. she realised that i was nowhere to be seen. so she asked anna if i had gone home.

and anna(my dear dear anna) replied yes.

freak out began. i couldn't believe that she said "yes"! now how was i supposed to hide or sneak out of the house without grandma seeing me? my keys were still on the shelf outside! and at the same time, what would grandma have thought if she saw me then? how? what? how??

you would have to be in the toilet to understand how stupid and funny that situation was immediately after anna said "yes". quietly loud, i looked at her innocent face in the mirror and asked her why she said yes, while re-planning my whole what-to-say deal. it's time for Operation B. "that was the first answer i could say!" said Anna. no, more like, whispered Anna. both of us burst out laughing. but we couldnt laugh out loud because then grandma would know. so we ended up laughing really hard, but you know, without any sound. sooo freaking painful.

as if the situation couldnt get any stupider, grandma decided to return to ask anna to help her see something on some product. WHICH MEANT, that anna had to open the door. HOLY MOTHER OF FLYING COCKROACHES!

the next 5 seconds included 2 panic girls, lots of facial expressions, and the shower curtain. that's right. Operation C. i hid behind the shower curtain. NO, this isn't some Disney movie. i hid behind the shower curtain.

all was settled, and grandma didnt discover a thing. i wasnt spotted! thank god for the great invention, ladies and gentlemen, of shower curtains. *applauds*

it was just freaking hilarious. i didnt had to say anything, and neither did anna. i just needed to point at the shower curtain. and we both burst out laughing. i'm sorry, but it was just plain hilarious. and stupid. i think we were both mainly laughing at our stupidity, and yet, i THINK, intelligence(yes?).

i'm lazy to elaborate on, but later on, some relatives came over, and i popped out from the other room. grandma seemed surprised at first, but i somewhat convinced her that i had gone up to take something, and came back down earlier on already. she has the tendency of not noticing it when i go into the house..sometimes. so she was convinced. plus, she had people to entertain.

what a ridiculous way to spend a Sunday afternoon. ridiculous, but extremely funny. maybe you wouldnt think it was that funny. i guess you just had to be there to get what i mean. *laughs*

ps: my family's decided to spend 2 days in malaysia. it's a chrismukkah miracle!

The TV Entry

so i last posted about that green thing. well, either it's gone, or it's hiding somewhere, attempting to come out sometime in early May. but it's not around for now, which is why i'm still intact(and sane), don't worry. :)

in fact, life has been so quiet recently. yes, i went out a few times, but it's still quiet. subtle. i mean, this isn't Wisteria Lane, and i'm not Joan of Arcadia or something, so there really isn't much drama happening around me (although, the block opposite's been having more drama than usual, but it's just Mediacorp drama). it's good though, not having drama in your life. the simpler it is, the better.

but i want to get away. even for just a while. for refreshments. besides, school's starting, whether i try to live in self-denial or not. "seige, you fool, you can run, but you can't hide." i feel like a Greek inside the Trojan horse, waiting impatiently to come out and conquer the country. a country. aaaannyytime now.

which is why, bye, bye, Troy, because the Greeks are coming! heh. i managed to ask my family to go to Malaysia for a day, just for a little break. we're gonna conquervisit Malaysia! more importantly, i can get out of here, even though it's just a day trip. at least it's before school starts. no wonder the Hulk's nowhere in sight.

people think that by not working, i wouldn't learn much at all. wrong. i've learnt so much these past few weeks. like how to juggle popcorn in the air while operating the remote control with my toes. or how to stuff 3 cookies into my mouth...get this,... at a time. :O I KNOW! ain't that amazing???

not.

ok so maybe i didnt learn all that. truth is, i've learnt to grocery shop. i've learnt to choose fruits properly. in fact, i love grocery shopping at supermarkets. it's kinda nice. plus, i've got a huge obsession for fruits lately. which is why i've had to have a bowl of mixed fruits every night for the past few weeks. here's a tip: if you're like me, where you like munching things even if you're not hungry, get grapes. they're nice to munch, and really healthy too. i like my share of kiwis as well. quote Jamie Oliver: "Kiwis are like the Aston Martins or fruits. they've got the craziest kind of taste, but have the highest amount of vitamin c in them as well." ooh, aston martin.

i got a little involved in cooking as well, and watching cooking shows highly interests me(of course, they cant beat my love for makeover shows, heh). wait. grocery shopping? cooking? uh-oh. have i turned into a Stepford wife? if so, where's my under-achieving, insecure, not-so-charming husband then? HAH. right.

woah. how random is this post?

That Green Thing

when i hear my father and brother discuss about their air tickets, when they should set off and what to pack and stuffs, i quietly go to my room, close the door, bang my head continuously on the cupboard, pull my hair till they all fall out, morph into the Incredible Hulk and stare at that green thing in the mirror. 2 minutes later, i walk out and act all normal again.

jealous? nah...who says i'm jealous?

...ok, this double identity thing is hard to keep up with. my alter ego's giving me a hard time. alright, alright, i'm jealous. envious. man, it's such a torture. i really dread school now. i refuse to count down to the number of days left before school reopens. i refuse.

i'm glad they get to go and all. i mean, i do hope they'll enjoy themselves. but i'd be a much happier person if i get to go too. unfortunately, i dont think it's gonna happen any time soon. my father asked me if i wanted anything from USA. i wanted to tell him to look out for Role Model tees, but then i figured he wouldnt know what they look like so i told him not to get me anything. plus, america's expensive.

yeah, you're thinking what i'm thinking. i guess i'm pretty much stuck here.

GASP! poor mom! she's gonne be stuck here... with me! shucks. i shall try to make it the best 2 weeks of our lives when the time comes (and secretly wallow in self-pity).a women's household! yes. i'm thinking...lots of relaxingironing, dancingmopping, and nice flickskorean dramas. sigh. i love my mom.

updates

The Commonwealth Games. now, here's something that i'd never thought i would really watch. afterall, it is because of these games that made the screening of some of my favourite programs postponed to a later date. i should hate them actually. surprisingly, i've actually grown to like watching them.

now swimming, i like. just check out the physics of the swimmers. males and females. for starters, they look like they've got really long bodies. the ladies look tough, and the men look good. i just love watching the competitions. it's actually something for me to do since i pretty much have nothing to do anyway. yeah it sounds pretty sad. but come on. i mean, hey, who knew there's a dragon in the middle of the Welsh flag? literally. huh? huh? bet you didnt know that. see? i learn too. :) plus, it's kind of my motivation to work out more.

my dad's going to California in may. not for work, but to "check that place out". and he pretty much has some of his expenses paid. my brother's probably going as well since he's having his holidays and... has enough cash.

i am so so so jealous right now.

never in my wildest, wildest dreams did i ever think that i'll be able to go to america. and it's still a dream. because i'm not going. this is a point in my life where i get the right to really hate school. school. ugh. that..that thing. that place where we get educated. bah. UGH.

i can't believe i'm missing out because of school. why couldn't it be april? or march? like now? i mean, money is a problem. but i'm just gonna find something to place hate on, and i choose school. Damn you, school. DAMN YOU.

What's in this head

i received my results via sms yesterday. the sms of doom...light? and thank you earth, wind, and fire, because i passed. that's right, i made it to year 2. let me just say, it wasnt so much of a joy ride while waiting for that sms to come(oh yeah, i need to buy Jason Mraz's "Waiting For My Rocket To Come". ANNA!).

but thank you god because i PASSED and it's all that matters. hoho.

surprisingly, i actually did better in this semester than the last. my GPA's slightly higher this time round. it's still far away from what's needed to enter a local university, but hey, it's an improvement. plus, are u ready for this...get ready...i actually got an "A" this time.

i know people. scream your lungs out. pull your hair. quick, drop your jaws and stare at me in disbelief!

that's what i did.

done? alright. to make you feel better, i got a D+ for BNT. (ok now you can turn to your friends and say,"yup, that's still her. mmhmm.") I mean, truth is, D+ definitely is a sucky grade. but it also means no supp paper, and for that, i'm thankful.

and i'd have to give huge credit to this person from another class who helped me out with my java. pure genius.

had a huge dinner at a restaurant yesterday because it was my grandmother's 85th birthday. anna and i just crapped alot. alot. it's been a while. that was fun, babe. :) we really should just start speaking in coded languages.

anyhow, it's still the hols and i'm still jobless, but i have this theory. if i cant find a job, i'll at least try to do something meaningful this holiday. taking up courses, doing volunteery work. heck, even drawing. which is why..i'm most probably gonna take up boxercise with my friend! okay before you burst out laughing and start rolling on the ground, let me just say that i think it's gonna be pretty cool! it's something to do, it's new, and it even keeps me fit. so why not?

also, volunteery work. i'm looking for places that just need simple volunteery work. like a child care center, or an old folk's home or something. either that, or some major organization that will bring me to africa to do volunteery work for the people there. sincerely. i'm not trying to play angel. those who know me know that i'm definitely NOT an angel(heh). i just wanna help.

oh yes, of course i stupidly, once again now, stupidly, got myself involved in some school workshop thing. now i have to go back to school next week to help my teacher out. STUPID, arent i?

ho. there i am, wanting to volunteer for organizations and stuffs, and here i am, complaining about being sucked into helping my teacher out at school. oh the irony. oh, me.

Oscars. It's all about the look, baby.

the Oscars. i loved it.

why? because it had everything Star Awards didnt have. the class, the glamour and the fashion. yeah, that's what i am. judgemental.

here's the difference between the Hollywood actors and the funny mediacorpers.

Oscars: the men showed up in classy tuxedos that really just didnt do anything to them except it made them look smart. and good looking too. their hair, nicely combed back. a little bow at the neck completed the whole look. most of the women showed up in simple yet elegant dresses that sparkled along with their radiant faces. it spelled G-L-A-M-O-U-R.

Star Awards: the men competed with the women to try to look as eccentric as possible. thus, we saw men showing up with hair extensions, or straightened(too much)fringes. different sets of clothes being put together to form an outfit. chains and weird flower brooches dangling on their jackets. scarves coming out from under the jacket? sure. real classy. as for the women, they tried too hard. admittedly, not all of them are like that, but there were those who wore weird little dresses that just didnt spell G-L-A-M-O-U-R, girlfriends.

gosh, i'm blunt. :)

and there's that touch of class and elegance at the Oscars. for one, no freaky Zoe Tay-auntie behaviour. freeeaaaky.*shudders*

and let me just say that Hilary Swank looked fabulous. and wow, that body. DARN thin people! ugh.
